This space was a new construction building so we had a completely unfinished space to create from.
Located in the heart of University of Madison campus, the clients wanted this space to be an urban, upscale location where students could learn the art of Cosmetology and Estiology and clients would know from the second they walked into the space that they are about to experience the most exquisite level of services. Sustainability was also a main factor in the design; this is in keeping with the “Aveda” way. For the flooring we selected stained concrete with colored insets to reflect the ceiling clouds throughout the space. To avoid slip and falls in the areas that have a high water usage, such as the shampoo bowls, we added a sand texture that was applied to the concrete. Recycled glass tiles in custom patterns were used on both the salon and school reception desks, complimented by solid surface tops. 3Form panels (which are 100% recyclable) were used throughout to add texture. Custom designed lighting surrounds the monumental structural columns throughout the space. The result is a naturally exquisite space that promotes knowledge and beauty.
